On 13 April 2026, Demagog organized the workshop “Critical Thinking? Turn It On and Pass It On! A Mastermind Session for Teachers.” The aim of the event was to identify the most common challenges teachers face and collaboratively develop solutions to address them.

As part of the Central European Digital Media Observatory (CEDMO) project, experts from Demagog led a workshop on critical thinking for teachers. The meeting focused on teachers’ personal experiences and the challenges they encounter in their everyday work. Their profession plays a crucial role in countering disinformation because of its influence on shaping the information literacy of young people.

Challenges in Working with Students

The workshop was organized in a rotating table format, allowing both teachers and Demagog experts to exchange insights and experiences from their work in education. During the discussions, participants reached a clear conclusion: teachers face numerous challenges. Among the issues identified were students’ susceptibility to disinformation and the limited space within the national curriculum for developing critical thinking skills.

Participants then discussed practical solutions that could be implemented in everyday teaching. The outcomes were compiled into a checklist for teachers, containing the key conclusions from the discussions as well as recommendations for resources and tools that support fact-checking and information verification.

Building Media Literacy

Participants received certificates confirming their participation in the workshop, along with a package of educational materials developed by Demagog that can be used directly in the classroom.

The meeting provided another opportunity for the Demagog to support the development of information literacy skills among teachers. Dialogue between educators is particularly valuable in this context, as each teacher can pass this knowledge on to their class, to future groups of students, and throughout their career potentially reach thousands of young people.
