Every year, fact-checkers from around the world come together at GlobalFact, the largest and most influential summit for professional fact-checking. The conference provides a platform to address industry-wide challenges, exchange best practices, and develop collaborative solutions to strengthen the global information ecosystem.

This year’s conference took place on June 17–19, 2026, in Vilnius, Lithuania. An estimated 500 participants from 80 countries attended the three-day event.

The summit was opened by Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence, Robertas Kaunas, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vidmantas Verbickas.

Throughout the conference, participants took part in keynote presentations, interactive learning sessions, practical workshops, and networking events designed to help strengthen their operations, reach wider audiences, and increase their impact.

The program focused on some of the most pressing challenges facing the fact-checking community today, including public resilience to disinformation, the growing influence of artificial intelligence on fact-checkers’ work, emerging trends in fact-checking and information integrity, the safety and well-being of fact-checking teams, and methods for investigating online disinformation campaigns.

Featured speakers included Peter Erdelyi, founder of the Center for Sustainable Media in Budapest; Nina Jankovich, former executive director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Management Council; and Jane Lytvynenko, an investigative journalist and NBC News contributor.

GlobalFact also hosted the International Investigative Journalism Festival, organized by Lithuanian public service broadcaster LRT in cooperation with the Lithuanian Journalism Center.
