According to statistics from the National Central Cancer Registry, about 3.8 million new cancer cases and 2.3 million cancer-related deaths were diagnosed in China in 2014. Incomplete data, desinformation and misinformation can affect individuals’ attitudes and behaviour precisely in relation to the incidence of cancer, because in people’s minds, cancer is associated with a fatal end. An increasing number of individuals, especially women, are turning to social media to seek and share information related to cancer.
