CEDMO Trends is a unique longitudinal panel research. In the Czech Republic, it is conducted over a period of 30 months and supported by the National Recovery Plan and Median. In Slovakia, the research started in September 2023, is planned to run for 24 months, and is supported by Google and Ipsos.
The research offers exceptional insight into the evolution of the population’s behaviour in consuming different types of media content, focusing on particular types of information disorders such as misinformation and disinformation. These not only undermine public trust in the institutions necessary for the functioning of a pluralistic democracy but can also amplify individual infodemias, as we have seen during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lessons learned during the research can make existing media education and pre-bunking strategies more effective. This will strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities and marginalised sections of society.
