Maria Bielikova, from CEDMO’s Slovak partner organisation KInIT, participated as a panellist on an expert panel focused on disinformation research and policy responses in the Balkans, organised as a part of the GATE Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Forum. During the panel, experts discussed disinformation in Bulgaria and Central and Eastern Europe as a whole. Maria Bielikova introduced the work of the Central European EDMO Hub (CEDMO) and the consortium’s composition. A special focus was on AI support applied to selected steps of the fact-checking process. Three key aspects have been highlighted: (1) focus on our local languages, (2) a lack of local datasets and labelled data and (3) a need for trustworthy AI.
