CEDMO Become Patron of a Fact-Checking Competition in Poland

The University of Gdansk is organising a fact-checking competition for students called DETEKTOR, under the patronage of CEDMO, represented by Karina Stasiuk-Krajewska .

The competition invites students from all fields of study, both at undergraduate and graduate levels, to participate.

To take part in the fact-checking competition “DETECTOR”, students are asked to:

  • play the role of a fake news hunters and find examples of fake news on social media;
  • prepare a creative competition entry in which they verify the examples of fake news they discovered.

Later on, students will be tasked with, among other things, solving a fact-checking task prepared by the organisers. The participants will also be able to take part in workshops on combating disinformation.  The winners will get the opportunity to complete a summer internship at the Demagog Association.

The competition is organised under the auspices of the UG rector, Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, and with the support of the Demagog Association, the Polish Society for Social Communication (PTKS), the European Commission in Poland, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), The Central European Digital Media Observatory (CEDMO), Google News Initiative, CyberDefence24 and the Pulsar Project.

The deadline for submissions is 15 March 2023!
