The state of information chaos and the increased amount of disinformation are often associated with the condition of contemporary journalism. This contributes to the polarization of social attitudes, lowering the level of trust in the media and decreasing the quality of information. Therefore, it is vital to verify journalists’ knowledge and awareness of the phenomenon of disinformation – especially those journalists who prepare news reports and information for the front pages of newspapers or websites every day. This study examines the awareness of disinformation and methods of verifying information in a group of professional news journalists in Poland.
