The next podcast in the “Konteksty” series is ready!

Konteksty (1)

The Polish CEDMO team published another podcast in the “Konteksty” series. This time, Katarzyna Bakowicz talks with Maciek Okraszewski, founder of the Dział Zagraniczny portal, about disinformation in different countries and cultures.

In keeping with the established format, the podcasts and videos are transcripts of conversations with specialists – researchers, journalists, and popularizers of science – who deal with diverse contexts of disinformation activities in the broadest sense. The concept for the series was prepared and the interviews were conducted by Dr. Katarzyna Bakowicz of SWPS University.

“By preparing a series of in-depth interviews, presenting different ways of looking at disinformation and different contexts and functions of information in social life, we wanted to show the whole complexity of the issue. This is because we are convinced that disinformation and social susceptibility to it are rooted in many spheres of social life – in our history, culture, attitude to science, but also the attitude to other people,” says Karina Stasiuk-Krajewska, Ph.D., professor at SWPS University, and coordinator of CEDMO in Poland.

There are places in the world where there is supposedly no disinformation. Does it depend on our culture, language, or perhaps politics? How do countries in South America or Asia deal with this challenge? And finally, does the geopolitical context matter at all? Maciek Okraszewski from the Foreign Affairs Department will try to explain all of this.
